Business First Honors Innovation Center Renovation with Brick by Brick Award

Nearly one year after the grand unveiling of the renovation to Rich’s Innovation Center and Atrium, the extraordinary space continues to impress associates, customers and the community with its modern design, superior functionality, and attention to detail. The latest recognition for this state-of-the-art facility was earning the 2015 Business First Brick by Brick Award, a high-profile acknowledgement that puts Rich’s, Lehigh Construction Group, Barbara Gisel Design, Scheid Architects and XPlore Productions, at the forefront of Buffalo Niagara’s real estate, construction and development community.

On June 15, Rich’s Innovation Center and Atrium was announced as the winning project among finalist selected in the Best New Office category at a formal awards ceremony held at Buffalo Riverworks. Challenging Rich’s for the Best New Office title were projects completed by fellow finalists Dig Buffalo and Tronconi Segarra & Associates LLP.

“We’re extremely pleased with this great facility and appreciate our design and construction partners that helped us realize our vision,” said Howard Rich, Vice President, Corporate Relations. “The Innovation Center and Atrium@Rich’s truly brings our global Rich Experience to life and represents our commitment to growth, success and customer-driven excellence.”

The project design team of the 17 month multi-phase interior renovation was tasked with modernizing the 84,000 square-foot space and creating a global culinary presentation and training center with a food-centric identity. The vibrant Innovation Center and Atrium hosts dynamic customer interactions and presentations, intimate associate gatherings and formal social events.

The impressive state-of-the-art technological capabilities were carefully balanced with nostalgic design features to create a warm and inviting space. A 40-foot-tall brick fireplace anchors the room and adds warmth and character to the striking space. Rich’s deep family heritage is emphasized by a three-story photo gallery wall featuring associates from around the world.

“The Innovation Center is a wonderful reflection of Rich’s family culture, it’s the heart of our world headquarters campus and has the intimate feeling of living room that reinforces Rich’s commitment to creating a connected culture,” said Howard. “Every space was designed with intention and purpose, and thoughtfully carved-out to serve a specific innovative function while showcasing Rich’s world-class professionalism.”

For the past 12 years, Business First has been honoring the best of the best in real estate, construction and development in the Buffalo Niagara region with prestigious Brick by Brick awards. Winners are selected in a variety of categories including education, office, medical, retail and multi-residential spaces; restorations; green projects; restaurant/entertainment venues; and sports complexes.
