Rich’s Consumer Brands Division Donates $100,000 to Support Youth and Family Charities

On December 5, 2017, a charitable fund recently established by Rich Products Corporation’s Consumer Brands Division, based on St. Simons Island, Georgia, presented $100,000 in donations to three local organizations: Morningstar Children and Family Services, YMCA of Coastal Georgia and Golden Isles Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

The checks were presented during a brief ceremony at Rich’s Consumer Brands Division. The attendees included members of each organization, as well as representatives from Rich’s Consumer Brands Charitable Fund, which was created in 2016.

All three of the charitable organizations have made an impact on children and families through their dedication to service and support in the local community.

Morningstar Children and Family Services provides residential care and services to support youth, mental health and family services, as well as therapeutic foster care. Its mission is to promote positive behavioral changes through quality programming in a caring, supportive and safe environment. They received $50,000 to rebuild a children’s playground and repair a classroom’s leaky roof.

The YMCA is the nation’s leader among nonprofit organizations committed to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Y is dedicated to building healthy, confident, secure and connected children, families and adults in the community. They received $25,000 to create a dedicated “Electronic Lumo Room” that promotes learning through motion and physical activity. The funds will also support a second activity room for all youth.

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is the largest interdenominational, school-based Christian sports organization in America. FCA focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ. They received $25,000 for youth camps and its overall athletic program.
On hand from Rich’s Consumer Brands Division to make the funds presentations to the three organizations were Jim Motos, Vice President of the division; Donna Ratliff, Human Resources Manager; and Jayne Mathews, Trade Settlement Analyst. Also attending was Ellen Post, Grants/Operations Manager of the Communities of Coastal Georgia Foundation Inc., which administers the Rich’s Consumer Brands Charitable Fund.

“The Rich’s Consumer Brands Charitable Fund was created to provide local support to charitable organizations that are doing exceptional work in helping those in need, but are not necessarily receiving any national funding,” explained Motos. “We feel that, in today’s world, it’s vital to support our youth, and Morningstar, the YMCA and FCA provide a solid foundation for so many. The impact that these organizations have on youth and families in Glynn County does not go unnoticed, and Rich’s, as a family oriented organization, is happy to help sustain this important work. We are always looking for opportunities to give back to the local community.”

The Rich’s Consumer Brands Charitable Fund was launched using money raised by associates of the Consumer Brands Division and donations collected by the division through the RSM Classic, an official PGA TOUR FedExCup event played each fall at Sea Island Golf Club on St. Simons Island. The golf tournament is hosted by the Davis Love Foundation, which was founded by PGA TOUR pro golfer Davis Love III for the purpose of contributing to the well-being and progress of society by supporting both national and community-based programs that focus on children and their families.
