Buffalo, NY, March 28, 2012 – Howard Rich, a 33-year veteran of Rich Products Corporation (RPC), has been named Vice President of Corporate Relations, announced President and Chief Executive Officer, William G. Gisel.
In a broader enterprise-wide role, Rich will manage the company’s community relations and corporate citizenship plans. Additionally, Rich will oversee significant upgrades to RPC’s world headquarter facilities in Buffalo over the next two years.
“A passionate community and customer advocate, Howard is the perfect fit for this new role,” said Maureen Hurley, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer. “We are fortunate to have such a tenured Rich’s associate drive our global corporate citizenship and community relations activities and oversee new developments to our Buffalo-based world headquarters.”
Renovations to the historic building on Niagara Street will be championed by Rich. With the challenge to preserve, support and enhance the company’s culture of innovation, Rich will use his 33 years of sales experience to leverage RPC’s physical campus and new technologies in order to take customer service and the customer experience to the next level for the company. The revival of RPC’s space will also allow for increased flexibility of space, knowledge-sharing among associates and time-effectiveness in the workplace.
Rich’s role comes as part of a new governance and organizational structure representing a transition from Rich’s dual business group structure, North America and International, to one organization consisting of five regional business units: Asia/Pacific, Europe/Middle East, Latin America, South Africa, and U.S./Canada.
Rich’s global realignment announced in December 2011 strengthens its ability to share its global business and in-market expertise with customers while enhancing the development opportunities it offers to associates across the company.
Rich began his career at Rich’s in 1969 as a technical consultant for the company’s In-Store Bakery division. He has been promoted through a series of roles in divisions throughout Rich’s, with key positions in three of the five divisions of the US/Canada region: In-Store Bakery, Ingredients and Rich Products of Canada Ltd, along with international sales responsibilities in Western Europe. Prior to accepting his current post, Rich served as president of Rich’s Ingredients division, which he helped to launch in 2009.
Rich graduated from Purdue University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and Marketing, and a minor in Psychology. Today he serves on the advisory board for Laidig Systems, Inc., a leading provider of turnkey storages and reclaim systems, and is an avid community volunteer. Rich is an active member of St. Matthews United Church of Christ where he serves in various leadership roles. Co-founder of Churches in Action, Rich has jointly led hands-on mission projects locally and to international locations such as Haiti and Mexico.
